In line with Directive (EU) 2016/2102, we strive to make our websites and mobile applications accessible in accordance with the provisions of the Hamburg Act on Equal Opportunities for Persons with Disabilities (hereinafter referred to as HmbBGG) and the Hamburg Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance (hereinafter referred to as HmbBITVO) implementing Directive (EU) 2016/2102.
Status of compatibility with the requirements
The accessibility requirements are derived from section 1 HmbBITVO in conjunction with sections 3(1) to (4) and section 4 of the Federal BITV, which was issued on the basis of section 11 HmbBGG.
The review of compliance with the requirements is based on a self-assessment conducted on 25.02.2022.
Based on the review, the website is partially incompatible with the aforementioned requirements due to various incompatibilities and exceptions. As part of the continuous revision of the website, the following items that have not been complied with to date will be gradually addressed:
- Adding missing alternative texts for some operation controls, graphics and objects
- Improving semantic markup of page elements
- Avoiding duplicate IDs
- Improvement of contrast ratios e.g. in the life cycle graphic
The following changes are not yet planned:
- Audio description for videos
- Labeling of sections and words in other languages

If a satisfactory solution has not been found even after you have sent feedback to the above-mentioned contact, you can turn to the conciliation board pursuant to Section 13a HmbBGG. The conciliation board is tasked with supporting an out-of-court dispute resolution in case of conflicts on the topic of accessibility between people with disabilities and public authorities. The conciliation procedure is free of charge. No legal counsel needs to be involved.
At present, the ombudsman's office of the senate chancellery is taking over the activities of the conciliation office, which has yet to be established.
